Funka arranges international roundtable on procurement

The Global Initiative for Inclusive ICT, G3ict, has partnered with Funka and the European Regions Research and Innovation Network, ERRIN, to arrange an international roundtable on procurement and standardisation in Brussels on June 23.

The roundtable is part of a series that started at the M-Enabling Summit in Washington and will subsequently be staged in various locations worldwide, including at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The aim of the talks is to gather knowledge from international experts in the field of public procurement and standardisation in order to achieve greater accessibility in IT. - Standardisation and procurement are two components that we believe strongly in to achieve increased accessibility says Funka CEO Susanna Laurin, who participated in the opening roundtable in Washington. Public procurement can motivate the industry to provide the most accessible IT solutions as a competitive advantage. G3ict aims to support implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by promoting harmonised regulations for procurement of accessible IT systems. Participants in the roundtables are selected experts from different parts of the world. The objective shared by G3ict, Funka, and ERRIN is that the discussions will lead to effective policies on procurement of accessibility, both in Europe and globally.
